Caring for Each Other Initiative
Your friends on Sesame Street are there to support you during the COVID-19 health crisis. They know that these are very stressful times; daily lives have been disrupted, and families everywhere are trying to create a new sense of normalcy. Children thrive with structure in their lives and they learn best through play–even in everyday moments like mealtimes and morning and evening routines. So the Sesame Workshop SITE is filled with content you can use all day long to spark playful learning, offer children comfort, and focus a bit on yourself, too. After all, it’s important that we take care of ourselves, so that we can best care for our families.
Our bright and inviting children’s area is full of picture books, early reader books, juvenile fiction and non-fiction books for children and families to enjoy and explore. Collections include items for children from preschool through 5th grade, children’s music, DVDs and audio-books. Visit our Play Space with toys and books for babies to encourage childhood creativity. Our weekly preschool story time is offered every Friday beginning at 10:30 AM and geared toward children ages 2 to 5 years old.
Pre-School Story Time

The Friends of Naples Library provided funding to the library this year to purchase the AWE Early Literacy Station™, a computer just for small children with over 4,000 activities and games. The Early Literacy Station™ (ELS) is designed specifically for your youngest patrons ages 2-8 and features over 4,000 localized learning activities. The fun, interactive and engaging content spans all seven curricular areas: math, science & nature, social studies & geography, reading, art & music, writing & computer skills, and reference.
Studies show that the integration of blended learning into early childhood education can increase literacy, improve school readiness, and prepare young learners for curriculum that is based on STREAM and STEM. The Early Literacy Station™ from AWE Learning creates an easy-to-use, single learning solution for young learners of all ages to build their literacy skills. The ELS also helps to establish the local public library as a critical resource for community learning – especially those that have developed makerspaces.
The Naples Library has partnered with Budding Readers to bring the Budding Readers Program to the Naples community. Watch for announcements in your school newsletter, the library, and fliers around town. To date, more than 120 “bundles of books” have been delivered to Naples families!
AUDIO-ENABLED BOOK READERS
Print book, meet audio book. VOX™ Books are the world’s first audio books that live in print books. The permanently attached VOX™ Reader transforms an ordinary print book into an all-in-one read-along. There’s no need for computers, tablets or CDs. Children simply push a button to listen and read.
VOX™ Books combine outstanding picture books and non-fiction with audio recordings that capture children’s attention and make learning and literacy development fun.
Since their introduction in 2015, VOX™ Books have been embraced by schools and libraries across the US as a powerful tool for engaging children with books and developing the reading skills needed for success in school and in life.
Vox Books are located in our Children”s Area near the picture books.
