The Naples Library has received a Finger Lakes Community Arts Grant to present A Community Exploration of Local Old Time and Roots Americana Music presented by Aaron Lipp, Lisa Bigwood and Friends.

The Naples Library will be hosting a series of three music education programs as well as a Community Square Dance at the Naples Community Park..

Thursday, June 28 5:30-7:30 PM
Introduction to Basic Chords & Song
Local musicians and songwriters Aaron Lipp and Lisa Bigwood will teach you how to play basic chords on ukulele or guitar. Learning together, we will be able to play a simple folk song or two by the end of this session. The class will be invited to participate at the Community Square Dance on July 15 by playing along with Aaron and Lisa. The library will have 4 guitars and 13 ukuleles available for those who register for this class first. If you have your own guitar or ukulele and want to participate you can but you must also register for the class. No prior experience required. Ages 12 and up.

Thursday, July 5 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Old Fashioned Song Share
Aaron Lipp and Lisa Bigwood will host an evening of sharing songs that are meaningful to them and invite you to talk about, share, and perform your favorites. Bring an instrument or your voice if you feel inspired to play a tune, sing or just tell a story about your memorable song. All ages are welcome.

Thursday, July 12 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Songwriting with Aaron Lipp & Lisa Bigwood
Local songwriters Aaron Lipp and Lisa Bigwood will present a short discussion on songwriting followed by a collaborative workshop to craft an original song by the participants. Aaron and Lisa will provide guidance to help you tap into your creativity. The song you create will be performed by all who wish to participate at the Community Square Dance on July 15. No prior songwriting skills required. Ages 12 and up.
