Is it safe to borrow library materials during the pandemic?
Working with approval from local health authorities and following guidance from the NYS Governor, we are taking all precautions to ensure that materials on our shelves and those that are returned to us are safe to be handled by the public. Returned items will not be handled for the recommended period of 72 hours.
If you are feeling unwell or if any member of your household is sick or in isolation, please do not borrow library materials. This will help us all feel more comfortable and confident with the safety of our collections. We look forward to serving you again when everyone in your household is healthy. Please note all materials currently checked out to you prior to closing have been renewed until September 30. New checkouts will follow current circulation policy.
What can I expect when visiting the library?
A limited number of patrons will be allowed in the building at one time. Patrons should stay home if they are sick or have had contact with someone who is sick. We are asking patrons to call 374-2757 or email email@example.com to schedule an appointment. Please enter through the front door on Main Street, wear a mask, maintain a safe distance from others, and check in with the staff person on arrival. If you cannot tolerate wearing one, please call 585-394-1381 so other accommodations can be made. Contact tracing will be optional for patrons.
At this time, most seating has been removed. Computers will be by appointment only. Please call 374-2757 to schedule a 60-minute time slot. Library items will not be browsable at this time, but holds may be placed. We ask that all patrons be considerate of others who may be waiting for entry into the building.
Please follow exit signs and exit through the Reading Room.
What are the new hours and why are they different?
Monday-Friday – 10:00am-5:00pm
Saturday – 10:00am-2:00pm (Holds pick up only)
Sunday – Closed
Due to capacity restrictions, staffing and cancellation of on-site programming the library has abbreviated hours at this time.
How many items can I put on hold at one time?
Patrons can place up to 7 holds on their account.
Can I return items to the library?
Yes! Our outside book drops are open 24/7. We are taking precautions to ensure that our collections are safe to be handled by members of the public and our staff. Please continue to use the outdoor book drop at this time.
Note: Because returned items will be placed in quarantine for 72 hours, it will take a few days for items to come off your library account. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. No late fees will be charged.
Why can’t I request items from other libraries?
Delivery between libraries is currently suspended. You may only request available items from your pickup library at this time.
I need internet access. Can I use a computer?
Yes! Please call 585-374-2757 to schedule a 60 minute computer appointment. Computers and furniture have been arranged to promote physical distancing. Equipment is regularly cleaned and disinfected by library staff before and after use. Our WiFi is still on! Bring your device to the library or outside of the building and log on to the OWWL network.
Can I apply for a library card?
You can apply for a library card online by clicking here. You will receive a physical library card in the mail to access downloadable ebooks and audiobooks and other online resources. Visit the library with a photo ID and document with mailing address listed within six months of receiving your card, and you can then check out materials from Naples Library too!
I still haven’t responded to the U.S. Census questionnaire. How do I do that?
The deadline has been extended to October 31. You can complete your questionnaire online, by phone, or by mail. For census questions, call 844-330-2020 or go to 2020Census.gov
I have a question? Is there anyone who can help me?
